Media Program

Our Media Program is a way for us to continue to undercover stories here in the West Kootenays. Since we launched this program, we've teamed up with photographers Steve Robert, Nadine Nevitt, Tim Whybrow, Aaron Hagen, journalist Aaron Theisen, cinematographer and skier Tristan Martin-Preney, writing/phography duo Bex Dawkes & Aleia Wylie and storytelling couple Cierra and Mike Dowie.

Meet Steve Robert, a French photographer originally from Lyon, France. Steve reached out with an idea to document a snowstorm at Logden. Steve is a talented filmmaker who used to live in Nelson and produced amazing visuals during his time here. During this stay, Steve created this film called Winter Freedom which draws a connection to the ease of access Logden gives you to the backcountry. Thanks so much for sharing this with us Steve!

Meet Nadine Nevitt, a visual artist, and photographer based out of Vancouver, BC originally from Caledon, Ontario. Nadine is a frequent guest during the winter and has a great eye for capturing beautiful moments at the Lodge and at Whitewater Ski Resort. Nadine photographed the 8th Annual Jr. Freeski Open and shared some moments from her stay as well.

Meet Aaron Theisen, an outdoors and travel storyteller based out of Spokane, Washington. Aaron is a writer and photographer that focuses on skiing, biking, hiking, and mountain culture. In summer Aaron and friends stayed with us to document a mountain biking experience to showcase some of our favourite local trails here in Ymir. Make sure to check out Aaron's work in Out There Outdoors where he is a regular contributor to numerous outdoors and lifestyle narratives.

Meet Tim Whybrow, raised on the island state of Tasmania, Australia. Tim became a professional photographer and cinematographer by following his childhood dream. Tim stayed with us in summer to capture his vision of our Lodge and called it Simplify Your Life. "In a fast-paced environment, photo opportunities arise at the blink of an eye. It takes a wealth of creativity and experience to predict and capture that moment and beauty it holds. At Logden, it's a lot easier!" Thank you Tim!

Meet Tristan Martin-Preney, a talented cinematographer and skier based here in the Kootenays. Tristan is also the owner and operator of CamCamps, which offers youth opportunities to learn about filmmaking for all ages and skill levels. We came across Tristan's work in 2019 when his film 'Rising from my Roots' released. This short film illustrates a story of a skier by the name of Trace Cooke looking to make a name for himself in the ski industry. We're excited to have Tristan join our Media Program!

Meet Bex Dawkes and Aleia Wylie, a writing/photography duo from our neighbouring town of Nelson. Passionate about backcountry exploration, female-led adventures, ecology and sustainability, they combine their skills to tell stories about the places they love. When working at Whitewater Ski Resort, Bex generously offered us a sneak peek of the 2019/20 winter season. Bex & Aleia stayed with us to capture their vision of Logden Life, and shared their personal story during these chalenging times, 'The Perfect Escape'. Thank you Bex & Aleia!

Meet Aaron Hagen, a talented landscape and commercial photographer who grew up in the mountains of Montana. Aaron is also the founder of Beartooth Media, a visual storytelling for homegrown brands. In summer Aaron captured his vision of Cabin Life here at the Lodge, which beautifully shows the intimate connection you have here with nature, and the coziness of life in one of our cabins - to be in a state of warm snug comfort. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Aaron and we hope you make it back here this winter!

Meet Cierra and Mike Dowie, a talented couple living the mountain-life in the Kootenays. Both are passionate about sharing stories and experiences through photos and videos, and love to cook. Mike reached out to us with the idea to show his family’s experience at Logden. Cierra and Mike stayed with us in spring, together with their son Everest and two dogs, and brought to life the family friendliness of our cabins in a stunning and most beautiful way. Make sure to check out Cierra and Mike‘ s work, creating stand out content for brands. Thank you both for sharing your lovely family with us!

If you are interested in documenting your experience through visuals or words then this program is for you.
